Instructions for Authors

Authors are requested to read these guidelines carefully before submitting a manuscript to the Journal of Integrated Medical Sciences & Research (JIMSR). Manuscripts that do not conform to these instructions may be returned without review.

Manuscript Categories

  • Original Research Articles (Maximum 3,500 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures)
  • Review Articles (Maximum 5,000 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures)
  • Case Reports (Maximum 1,500 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures)
  • Short Communications, Perspectives, and Letters to the Editor (Maximum 2,000 words excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures)
  • Perspectives and Commentaries (Maximum 2,000 words excluding references)
  • Letters to the Editor (Maximum 800 words, up to 10 references, and one table or figure)

General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Submit as an editable file (MS Word/.docx), Times New Roman 12 pt, double-spaced, with continuous line and page numbering.
  • Use British or American English consistently throughout.
  • All authors must provide ORCID iDs and a clear statement of individual contributions.

Manuscript Structure

Original articles should follow the IMRaD format:

  • Title Page: title, authors, affiliations, corresponding author details, word count, conflict-of-interest and funding statements.
  • Abstract: structured (Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion), up to 250 words, with 3–6 keywords selected from MeSH terms wherever applicable.
  • Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.
  • Acknowledgements, References, Tables, and Figure Legends.

References

References must follow the Vancouver (ICMJE) style, numbered consecutively in order of appearance and cited in the text using superscript or bracketed numerals. Authors are encouraged to include DOIs where available.

Ethical Requirements

  • Studies involving human participants must include approval from an Institutional Ethics Committee and a statement of informed consent.
  • Animal studies must comply with relevant institutional and national guidelines.
  • Clinical trials should be registered in a recognized public registry, with the registration number stated.
  • Reporting should follow applicable guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE).

Figures, Tables, and Permissions

Figures should be submitted as separate high-resolution files (minimum 300 dpi) in JPEG, TIFF, or PNG format. Previously published material requires written permission and proper attribution.

Declarations

Every submission must include statements on conflicts of interest, funding, author contributions, data availability, and ethical approval.

Plagiarism Screening

All submissions are screened using plagiarism-detection software before peer review. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or falsification may be rejected immediately and handled according to COPE guidelines.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

Authors must disclose the use of AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) in manuscript preparation. AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.

Authorship

Authorship should conform to ICMJE recommendations. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation, drafting, or critical revision of the manuscript and must approve the final submitted version.

Cover Letter

Manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter confirming originality, authorship, conflict-of-interest disclosures, and that the work is not under consideration elsewhere.

Peer Review Process

JIMSR follows a double-blind peer review process. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by evaluation by at least two independent reviewers.

Submission Checklist

Before submission, ensure that:

  • Manuscript is original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Title page is complete.
  • Abstract and keywords are included.
  • References follow Vancouver style.
  • Ethics approval and informed consent statements are provided where applicable.
  • Conflict of interest and funding disclosures are included.
  • Author contribution statement is included.
  • Figures and tables are properly labeled.
  • Cover letter is attached.
